Do I have to repay a grant?

Do I need collateral?
No. Our grants do not require collateral.
Who can apply?
Individuals and businesses that meet the requirements of an open programme. Each programme lists its amount, fee and documents.
What do I need before I can apply?
Create an account and complete the one-time identity (KYC) verification. After that you can apply for any open programme.
Is there an application fee?
Some programmes charge an application fee, shown on the programme card. The fee covers administration. Paying it does not guarantee selection.
When do applications close and when is the recipient announced?
Applications close every Friday at 4:00 PM East Africa Time. The recipient is announced the next day, Saturday, at 4:00 PM. Anything submitted after the deadline moves to the following week.
How are applications judged?
Three independent judges score each eligible application on a 100-point rubric. They do not see each other's scores until judging closes, and they do not see the fee you paid.
Can I appeal a decision?
You can ask for a correction if a genuine technical or procedural error affected your application, for example a document wrongly marked as missing. Appeals cannot be used to dispute a judge's score.
How do I follow my application?
Sign in and open your applications to see each stage from submission to award, and to receive notifications.
What is SchoolPay?
SchoolPay is a lifetime membership that lets you apply for school-fee financing. Membership gives access to apply and does not guarantee a loan.
How is my personal data protected?
Identification documents are encrypted at rest and shared only with the people who need them to assess and pay your application. See the privacy policy for details.
